making a mark for adam kershaw

Adam Kershaw is a fabulous sculptor/maker living in Kent and with a special concern for working with different materials including metal and reclaimed wood. He wanted to develop and sharpen his brand identity and asked us to get involved. Brian Homer was particularly excited by Adam’s techniques of working in wood and metal and how that might be reflected in Adam’s identity, marketing information and website.

Brian came up with a simple and elegant artist’s mark based on Adam’s initials that could be produced in wood, metal and paper using carving, stamping, sand blasting and embossing techniques; something spare but with lots of possibilities.

And Adam loves it. He says, “I can see myself using this mark for the rest of my career.” And he immediately set about carving out the mark into large blocks of wood to use as a sign outside his studio. He sent us a copy and we are now using photographs of it as part of a web design for him. So watch this space!
