Kearsley Academy Brand and Marketing

The Kearsley Academy, which opened in 2010, was unique in that the lead sponsors, consultants Northern Education, are experienced and successful educationalists themselves. This gave us a great opportunity to work closely with them, using our own experience in education marketing, to develop this new brand from the ground up.
We were required to move fast. Two and a half weeks after winning the contract, we'd visited Bolton several times and finalised the identity and design guidelines. The identity maximised the modern collaborative approach between sponsors, staff and the student community. We took the specialisms of Maths, Computing and Leadership and found a graphic expression that would work across all media including signage.
We also produced an inexpensive interim web site for them and then designed, edited and wrote initial marketing and stakeholder information.
Because the welfare and encouragement of each individual student was fundamental to their new vision, and Kearsley Academy had plans for the future including a new building where students would have clear home bases to belong to and gain support from, we worked on a colour scheme to identify the home bases and student 'families' that could be used on the old site and contribute to plans for the new. We then liaised with the people on the ground who were refurbishing for the first intake in September.
